Device Notes for ABM
โ Add to Chrome
Free to install. Microsoft Edge users can install from the Chrome Web Store too โ a native Edge Add-ons listing is on the way.
Device Notes for ABM is a browser extension that connects Apple Business Manager to the device inventory you already keep โ in Airtable, a Google Sheet, an Excel workbook, a Notion database, or a Supabase table โ so the information about a device appears right next to the device.
What it does
Open any device in Apple Business Manager and a panel slides out with that device's record from your own database: assigned user, department, specs, purchase year, notes โ whatever columns your table has. Edit and save without leaving the ABM page. If the device isn't in your database yet, you get a pre-filled form to add it in one click.
In the ABM inventory list, every serial number gets its device name added beneath it in blue โ so a page of serials like C02XK1ABJGH5 becomes a page of names like Front Desk iMac, and you can find the machine you're looking for without opening records one by one.
Your data stays yours
The extension talks directly from your browser to your own database, whichever backend you choose. There are no servers in between, no telemetry, and no analytics โ we never see your data, and there's nothing to sign up for. Read the privacy policy.
Works with what you have
- Airtable โ point it at your base with a personal access token. The form builds itself from your table's fields.
- Google Sheets โ sign in with Google and pick your spreadsheet in Google's own file picker. Row 1 headers become the form. The extension can only see the one file you pick โ never the rest of your Drive.
- Excel (Microsoft 365) โ sign in with Microsoft, paste the workbook's share link. Works with OneDrive and SharePoint, personal or work accounts; checkbox columns round-trip as real booleans.
- Notion โ paste an integration token and your database's link. Selects and multi-selects become real dropdowns fed by your database's own options; the integration only sees pages you connect it to.
- Supabase โ a real Postgres database with a free tier. Paste your project URL, an API key, and the table name; nothing to sign in to and nothing expires.
- Any schema works: the only required column is the serial number (a
Namecolumn is strongly recommended โ it powers the blue labels).
Safari: keep the database on your own Mac
The Safari version is a real Mac app, not just an extension โ and that changes what's possible. Instead of connecting to a service somewhere, your inventory can live in a SQLite database file on your own workstation, or on a file share your team already uses.
No account to create. No API token. No sign-in that expires. Nothing leaves the building.
- Your file, your machine. Point the app at a
.sqlitefile on your Mac, or at one on an SMB share so several admins work from the same records. - A library, not a single file. Keep a database per organization and switch between them from a menu โ useful if you look after more than one.
- Start from a spreadsheet. The app writes a CSV template; fill it in with Numbers or Excel, import it, and you have a database. Export back to CSV whenever you want, so the data is never locked in.
- The cloud backends still work. Airtable, Notion and Supabase are all available in Safari too โ the local database is an option, not a restriction.
